EverGreen Surreal Garden Collages

About

EverGreen Surreal Garden is a collage series created for the Texas A&M University–Corpus Christi Communication Design Club’s entry into a local American Advertising Awards competition. As art director, I led a group of students through the branding and collateral execution across both print and digital applications.

Image selection was curated to evoke a bright, springtime atmosphere — local animals, foliage, and landscapes were chosen to ground the work in Corpus Christi. Vintage magazine cutouts were used for human figures, with halftone and paper textures applied universally to unify the mixed-media sources. Surrealism was introduced through intentional proportion disparity and object substitution. Compositional movement was also considered throughout — elements are arranged to direct the eye rightward or upward, creating a sense of flow. Alternative versions of each collage substitute the sky for a gradient background with the logotype superimposed. The logotype was designed by alumni Chloe Hill; all other club members applied it within their individual collages. The final pieces were deployed across EBlasts, social media, and additional club collateral.
